Some locks just didn’t seem to make sense to many users when trying to pick and decode with the 2 in 1 tool, down to a lack of basic knowledge of the locks they work on and the tool they are using , this prompted me photograph keys , locks and procedures to try and put into clear concise information and pictures to fill these knowledge gaps.
The book outlines in detail how to site read the keys , the key rules and the key series data as well as how how each tool interacts with the lock, where the wafers are and where the wafers aren’t and which way they move and which lever on the tool moves which wafer.
By knowing which wafers are in the lock and which lever on the tool makes it move, it is much easier to not only use the tools, but to enable you to find the correct decode and the remaining (missing) cuts … which is the whole purpose of using the tool in the first place (except when you just want to pick and open the lock).
I use Instacode to fill in any gaps or missing spaces/wafers and to check and see if my readings give a genuine code, this works most of the time, BUT just sometimes someone has recoded the locks and haven’t done a legitimate code , but also code software has missing codes or the ignition has been changed so working on a different key which is why the 3 in 1 came about so we have included guides on the ignition locks as well.
I also show how to progress the cuts in Instacode and (sometimes) Genericode, and I found there are SOME inconsistencies in the various code programs (on some locks and codes).
I have included the “grid templates” for you as I believe it’s a great idea to use the templates when picking or decoding a lock as it will remind you which (if any) wafers are NOT in the lock and which ones to pick/decode.
In short I have condensed many years experience and knowledge into clear concise photo guides to enable the user to understand the lock they work on , the tool they use and the correct procedure to follow for best results .
Many hours of practice is still required to master these tools and become competent with them , it is a skill after all , the guides will I hope improve your knowledge and reap the rewards of your practice time without the need to strip all these locks and figure them out , I have done this for you.
Please enjoy
Regards,
Martin Pink
