Child window safety is something that is often forgotten when child proofing your home, however the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) provides research that states that in the UK over 4,000 children under the age of 15 are injured yearly from falling out of unsecured windows, with 2,000 of these accidents involving children under 5 years old. A small yet very effective and extremely affordable solution for a child window lock are fixed cable window restrictors!

The white window restrictors have a 20cm long cable, which when installed correctly will limit the opening of a window to under 89mm to comply with EN 13126-5:2011 + A1:2014 test standards. Not only will this prevent children (and animals such as cats and dogs) from being able to fit through the gap, but it also allows enough air to circulate around a room.

The white fixed end window restrictors have been designed so that they CANNOT be unlocked by a user, meaning that they are ideal when you want to insure that the window will not be opened fully i.e. in hospitals, schools, nurseries, care homes, mental institutions and hotels.

Primarlity designed for UPVC windows, but can also be used on doors, the UPVC window restrictors can also be fitted to aluminium, wooden and metal profiles. There is no minimum or maximum dimension for which window can be used as long as the window opening is restricted to 89mm.

The UAP fixed window restrictor can withstand forces over 100kg, which is more than enough to take the weight of any child. This is twice the industry standard of around 50kg, and 3 times more than the minimum 35kg load required for testing standards!

The cable itself is made from hardened steel, which makes it extremely difficult to cut. It makes the window restrictor ideal for customers who are based on ground floors, and want to leave their windows open but are afraid that they may be broken in to!
